Musings....... Communist Party of China and CPIM My dear friends who have been following my articles know that until recently my writings were mainly against the Right wing fascist forces of our country. However, during the lockdown a whole new aspect opened up before me when I came upon few books on Communism. That the Left wing fascism is equally relevant as the Right wing was in fact new to me. The history buff in me awakened and culminated in my two previous blogs on Left Wing Fascism. This chance encounter with communism opened up a Pandora’s box for the reader in me and my reading pattern. It is at this juncture that we heard of the unfortunate incident from Galway Valley in Ladakh UT. That 20 Indian soldiers including a colonel rank officer was killed is something really terrible and sad. I join as I’m sure whole of India would, in condemning the incident. My heart goes out to the families of the Jawans who gave up their lives for the security of the nation. After a v

Musings....... The year 2020 has been a tough year considering we are in the midst of a pandemic. Apparently the lockdown has taken a toll on mental health too. It was with initial disbelief that we all heard of the apparent suicide by hanging, of popular movie star Sushant Singh Rajput. This rude shock has raised concerns on the important issue of mental health.  You may be surprised at the amount of people suffering from depression. Many hide the fact, and most cases of depression do not come out owing to it being a social stigma. It was brave of a movie star like Deepika Padukone to come out and speak out about her clinical depression which has increased awareness on the illness and also helped reduce the social stigma associated with it. It is of paramount importance to recognise mental health problems in near and dear ones at the earliest. This may include- - [ ] Changes in sleep patterns - [ ] Difficulty in sleeping and concentrating - [ ] Worsening of health probl

Musings....... Misplaced Priorities Yesterday among the multitudes of news reminders in my phone I come across one such news, rather hidden in the heap of COVID-19 and related news- that the WHO has declared a 2nd Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Congo, is already battling the COVID-19 and also the worlds largest Measles outbreak ! At least 2,243 people have died since an epidemic began there in August 2018. My first reaction was why does Ebola and Zika virus outbreaks don’t get the kind of news and importance, as something like the Coronavirus or a Measles outbreak in the US.  But then, the world media being controlled by the capitalist west, could be the reason for us mere “common man” getting to read filtered news and filtered opinions. I have seen more reaction and anger in the press, when the Notre Dame burst into flames in April 2019 in France and more donations for its restoration, than when thousands died in Africa due to the Zika and Ebola virus si

Musings....... Left wing Fascism -2 My last article on Left Wing Fascism was the first time I went into a discussion on the Left Wing. If the last time I went into how left wing fascism is equally terrifying as the right wing, this time I choose to go into the Indian aspect of the left wing. Like I already mentioned, being a staunch anti right wing, I had often neglected the left wing. However, the more I read about them, the more I realise that both the right and the left are two sides of the same coin. As any curious person would do I went into the origin of the Communist party in India and I was not surprised to find out that even they are not sure of it ! The CPI officially states that it was formed on 26th December 1925 at the first Party Conference in Kanpur. As per the CPIM, the Communist party was founded in Tashkent on 17th October 1920 soon after then second congress of the Communist International. We know from history that the communist during the Independence mo
