Musings........
An article today in Mathrubhumi on Gandhi Jayanti day by Dr. J. Prabhash was a riveting read and has left a lasting impression upon me.........
It gives the idea that Gandhiji was aware of his losing relevance in post independence India. To prove his points he gives examples. The way Gandhian era moved towards a Nehruvian era as early as 1945, the way India forgot the Father of our Nation even in his death. The reports that India was unable to provide basic Medical support to Bapu on the day of his assassination. Even though it wouldn't have made much of a difference, the stark neglect given to Bapu is somewhat horrifying.........
Bapu was born an ordinary man and died a Mahatma. The title he did not inherit; the title bestowed upon him by his deeds in his lifetime.
He gave word and visibility to the marginalised sections of our society, did everything to maintain Hindu Muslim unity. In fact Bapu is instrumental in providing equal status to Muslims in Post independent India, one of the reasons leading to his untimely death.
Now coming to the issue of Relevance, who is not more relevant that Bapu in these contemporary times.
You may consider me naive to spent my time writing about Gandhi and waste time on this holiday. But then Gandhi is an emotion.......
Talking about emotions, the past week for me has been full of them.
The week has been hectic as usual at work. Work aside the week started with us seeing the first signs of the resurrection of the Congress Party in Kerala. With protests and hunger strikes they have been able to capture the public opinion towards them.
The party in power is well known to hit beneath the belt, but then this week saw them stoop to levels uncharted. What better way than to go personal when you are cornered ain't it.
Getting victimised for someones political gain and to be not able to do or respond to it is one of the frustrations with which I have had to end this week. But then as they say in Malayalam and i quote " manga ulla mavil alle kallu eriyu". To be discussed in the public discourse and being wrongly interpreted has all been new to me.
Here i would like to quote Dr. Steve Maraboli who once said " The only thing that makes life unfair is the delusion that it should be fair".
I would end my musings for the week stressing the importance to live positively, after all positivity is what greats like Gandhiji radiated of and oozed.
Food for thought........
