Musings.......

My day today has been a revelling one and has left me contemplating and hence the urge to write.  
I cannot exactly say my day began - as I was awake on one of those hectic night duties that me as a humble PG student has to go through ( Deep inside I do consider myself lucky and blessed to be working under Giants in my chosen career path).  
On my way out of hospital I buy my regular set of newspapers and immediately set my eyes upon the picture of the day- SNDP gen secretary with our Prime Minister. The gravity of the message that that picture gives is humungus ; so big that it has the potential to change the whole sociopolitical landscape of Kerala. A prominent, powerful community of Kerala getting closer to a communal outfit. 
Suddenly I remember today is Gandhi Jayanti when I come across an excellent cartoon by Keshav in The Hindu which I have shared here.  A reinforcement of how far we have disconnected from Gandhian values and teachings. A picture indeed speaks a thousand words. 
My day progresses from dropping a friend to the airport to sneaking in a temple visit in aluva. On the way back I see hoardings and banners starting to crop up signifying that Panchayat elections are not far. 
The rest of the day goes uneventful until I come across a picture. A thousand rupee note with the picture of beloved Bapu replaced with that of Sardar Bhagat Singh. 
Winston Churchill had once said that India is an idea, it's non-existent and went on to equate it to the Equator. 
Our nation builders like Bapu, Nehru to name a few spent their whole life in giving us next generation the India that it is.  We now have a government which is trying to rewrite history. But then as some wise person said the public gets the government it deserves.......
Reading between the lines, Churchills prophecy is not far from being true.  
Would my next generation be living on the equator.......???

Musings....... I thought I had done justice to the 2019 protests through my previous Musings. Later I realised my folly that I had just touched the tip of the Iceberg.  In fact the seemingly small protests had snowballed into huge protests with its geographical extent extending into both hemispheres. Now it’s been dubbed the Global Protest Wave of 2019 !!  Confining myself to Latin America in my last article was a deliberate attempt to highlight the ply of the people in a hitherto lesser known part of the world.   Musings....... The US Presidential election 2020 will be forever remembered as the Pandemic Election.  The elections held on November 4th was one of the most crucial election for the United States of America as well as for the world.  The leader of the so called free world was battling to hold on to the position. The result would have determined whether it remains or chose to uphold Nativism and Nationalism over Globalism.  The elections were for the 538 Electoral votes in which the candidate securing 270 would win the Presidency.  Two party Presidential system of Government in US meant the fight was between the Democrats and the incumbent Republicans.  Easily remembered as the party of Bill Clinton, the Democratic ticket went to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and VP respectively.  Remembered easily as the party of the Bushes or Ronald Reagan, the Republican ticket was the incumbent Donald Trump and Mike Pence.  In a dramatic reversal...
